Durbuy, Belgium

An extremely small and perfectly preserved medieval town located in the Ardennes region of Belgium.  The 17th century winding cobblestoned streets are line with beautiful stone buildings, flowers and classic wrought ironed signs. Small shops, restaurants, cafes and butchers are just waiting to be discovered along the way.  Finding any reliable info on this location proved to be a bit of a challenge. So, after visiting, here's my insight.

An entertaining fountain show behind town

One of the many adorable treasure filled shops

If you're looking for a budget friendly place to eat, consider popping into a bakery, a grocery store and or a butcher for the best sandwiches you've ever eaten.  Many bakeries and butchers will also create a sandwich of your choice on the spot. All you have to do is ask.

French inspiration surrounds you in Belgium.

Many renowned restaurants are available for your
choosing with divine Belgian cuisine. Expect the menus
and service to be in French only.  That one honestly threw me for a loop!

Ice cream anyone?

Yes people, Belgian waffles on a stick!

Loved this tiny alley filled with details just waiting to be discovered.

I absolutely love that hearts are nearly
everywhere in Euro decorating!

Keep your eyes peeled for the Confitures and Patisseries
 with amazing baked delights.

One of the many narrow winding streets.

A horse drawn carriage ride is a great recommendation for a quick tour of the town.

The fare is extremely low per person.

The main road winding down into the town's center.  Restaurants line both sides of the road.
Paid parking is available when you drive through town.
Around every corner is a picturesque scene.

Accommodation is within the town and in the surrounding area.
My favorite booking site is booking.com

One day is more than enough time to visit, explore and enjoy this gem of a town.

How to get here:

There are two direct trains from Brussels ( North, Central and Midi stations) to Barvaux per hour. From Barvaux there is a shuttle bus to Durbuy.

Parking is available in town or just 1 km outside of town within a large free parking lot named Pre Georis ( should be listed in your GPS). An easy and scenic 10 minute walk leads you into town. With parking in town, you will need to find a meter and pay for the time you will be visiting. Lay your ticket on the driver's side dashboard within outside view to prevent acquiring a ticket.
